First Day Back

Well couldn't you just predict it, first day back after half term and it's gloriously hot and sunny... and I'm stuck in 2 hours worth of invigilation Why don't they design sports halls with windows? Surely they could put in ones that don't break, or put up some sort of guard around them, anything to let us day dream out of whilst being bored to an almost coma like state.

Applies only to right angled triangles

Hypotenuse = longest side

The hypotenuse is found by taking the square root of both sides.

The steepness of a slope - the gradient expresses a relationship between change in height and horizontal distance.

Average Gradient = Increase in Height/Horizontal Distance

G = H/D

Bearings

Grid Bearing - Bearing taken using a map
Compass Bearing - Bearing taken using a compass

Magnetic North - The direction of north taken from using a compass
Grid North - the direction of North on a map, usually the vertical grid lines

Magnetic north and grid north can differ as magnetic north moves around - the information for how much at the time the map was published is usually given.

T = D/5 + H/600

I was putting together a revision pack for our leaving year 11 ICT group the other day. A standard, copy and paste job from OCR. Pretty easy, kept me quiet for all of 10 minutes. Unfortunately while I was putting it together I was tempted to read some of it and came across (somewhat paraphrased I fear as I don't have the text to hand)

"Don't forget sizes: 1000 bytes in a Kilobyte; 1000 Kilobytes in a Megabyte; 1000 Megabytes in a Gigabyte"
