Black and White
Submitted by BinksUK on
Sat in the office yesterday, plugging my way through some jobs, when two students came to the door eagerly clutching some black sugar paper. They had been sent down to us by their English teacher because they were having trouble printing and thought perhaps we would have more luck. Ok, no problem, we can do printing. However, their request was beyong even our realms of expertise, they wanted us to print white text onto the black paper. After a quick explaination from one of the technicians that regular printers don't actually "print" white ink, and a demonstration of how they could achieve the same affect by changing their word document to a black background, they toddled off happily back to their lesson and we collapsed into a fit of the giggles.
However, thinking about it, their request wasn't really as daft as it seems. We do, after all, call them black and white printers do we not?
(I won't mention here the conversation I had with the senior technician asking if there was really no combination of colours that would produce white...)
