On the whole a much happier week this week... helped by seeing some snow at the beginning () and a very nice weekend at the end. Life seems to be ticking along a bit better now and goals are forming which is always reassuring. I\'m also beginning to feel a lot better than I have been doing although the cough seems to be hanging around, it must like my company.

Fresh start

Well there we go then, laptop formatted, partitioned, formatted again, and finally a fresh installation in place. It\'s quicker, not overly quick, but quicker. Next stop more ram, possibly. It\'s nice to have a clean start though, everything put on in the proper order, virus checked and firewalled, feeling secure and snug. Rsync worked well, did it\'s job perfectly and hopefully a new bigger drive (yet to be purchased) will allow it to continue doing it\'s job.

This made me smile, I had to share...

We had a mufty day at school today, to raise money for our link school in Africa and for the victims of the Tsunami. The usual sea of motley jeans, baggy t-shirts, designer lables and... sixth-formers. They, who are allowed to wear \"regular\" clothes all of the time, always manage to out-do themselves on such an event.

As I was walking back to the car after a long day, two of the said sixth-formers were walking past me, one looking rather miffed, dressed up in full goth gear, obviously in training for her long suffering days at Uni.

It has been decided, my mind is set, this laptop must be formatted and given a fresh start. To reboot it now takes nearly 20 minutes, if I\'m lucky, with a further half an hour of tempermental disk activity and the remainder of my computing experience punctuated by moments (somethings minutes) of it \"thinking about things\". As the IT tech guy pointed out yesterday, it\'s a Pentium 4, you expect great things!

A lot happier than I was the other day you\'ll be pleased to hear. Still feeling under the weather but can feel myself getting better now so can put up with the aches and pains. Back to work tomorrow which I really can\'t wait for, being home is so dull, particularly when you don\'t have the energy to do anything.

Humph. Well my plan of resting and waiting to get better didn\'t exactly work. I\'ve now officially got flu and a bad chest infection, and feel totally totally rank It\'s not the greatest when you hope to start feeling better and then wake up feeling worse, I\'m hoping that now I\'m on anti-b\'s I\'m at last on the road to recovery.

Roll on 2006!

Yes, I know, don\'t wish your life away but somehow seeing in the new year with a bout of flu doesn\'t seem like a good omen does it I\'ve finally gone down with the bug that has plague half the city and it\'s totally horrible. Not a great way to finish my holiday and I\'m certainly not looking forward to dragging myself into work tomorrow although I have given in and not gone in today.

These boots they're made for walking...

... or not as the case maybe, but they look good We\'ve spent another hard afternoon shopping, maybe I\'ve got a bug or something, I actually went voluntarily! The aim of the trip was to buy some boots, a pair for work (I\'ve worn my others out) and a pair for general use. Prooved to be somewhat easier said than done. Town, Stamford and Hampton later and I now have a pair of bestish smart boots which I didn\'t really need but are kinda cool.

wow, that went quick! Seems only the other day we were buying presents and now they\'re all given out and things are returning back to normal. Had a lovely day at Dan\'s parents yesterday for lots of Christmas type food and a chilling out day, much less hectic than the first few hours of the day spent at home. Andrew very much liked a noisy police car he got... by the end of the first 10 minutes of playing I don\'t think anybody else liked it, they should make noisy toys come with headphones.

and so much still to do Mum and I have had a day in town today, finishing off a few bits and bobs. Managed to get myself a lovely coat for an even lovelier price so a happy bunny at the moment. Still a few presents to get but hopefully that can be done later in the week.
